I made a DIY coffee table using a £15 bargain buy from Ikea

ANY homeowner will know that replacing old furniture can work out pretty pricey.

But one savvy woman named Chris-Ann has set out to prove that you haven't got to spend a small fortune...as she made a DIY coffee table for her home using a bargain buy from Ikea.

The clever hack involves the bamboo 'blanda matt' serving bowl which retails at £15 from the Swedish homeware store.

In the clip shared to TikTok (@cahjahoriedeco), Chris-Ann begins by applying some strong Gorilla glue around the rim of the bargain buy, before adding a second bowl on top.

"Apply pressure to bond glue…dries in 24 hours," she says.

Chris-Ann continues: "Optional wood filler to joining for seamless look."

Next, she sands the edges to create a smooth finish and then applies a dark walnut gel stain.

This process is repeated three times until she has a trio of circular balls to form the table legs of the super chic coffee table.

Following this, the DIY whizz glues each one to the base of a large marble surface which she took from an existing table.

"Facebook marketplace is a good place to look," she recommends to anyone else hoping to follow in her creative footsteps.

Chris-Ann captioned the post: "Sharing detailed version of the DIY Sphere leg coffee table using the Ikea Bamboo Bowls. Absolutely love the result."

The post quickly went viral, racking up over 842k views and several comments - with very mixed responses.

Some social media users were such fans of Chris-Ann's creative handiwork, they urged her to start selling them.

"I would gatekeep, make and SELL em," admitted one.

A second enthused: "Wow!!! Girl you’re sooooo creative and talented!"

A third penned: "Yasss!!! Yass! Yas! Awesome! Great thinking looks amazing."

Meanwhile, a fourth praised: "This is by far one of the best Ikea hacks I've seen on this app. Wow!"

Another wrote: "WOW, wait a minute! I need this in my life."

And a further chimed in: "This looks expensive!! I love it!!"

However, elsewhere, others were less than impressed with the finished design - and compared the table legs to Maltesers.

"Wonder why I fancy a Malteser now…." joked one.

A second quipped: "Forbidden Maltesers."

Another pointed out: "Doesn't match the marble! Make it all walnut."

And one more added: "Noooo not the three ball table."
